Welcome to Great Goat Expeditions LLC. These Terms and Conditions outline the rules, responsibilities, and expectations associated with booking and participating in our guided expeditions. By reserving a trip with us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms. They are designed to ensure the safety, clarity, and satisfaction of all our participants, and to support a smooth experience from start to finish.
1. Booking & Payment Terms
1.1 Deposits
To secure a booking, a non-refundable deposit is required. The deposit amount is typically 20% of the total trip cost, unless otherwise specified at the time of booking.
1.2 Final Payment
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the expedition start date. Failure to make the final payment by the due date may result in cancellation of the booking without a refund.
1.3 Accepted Payment Methods
Payments can be made via credit card, bank transfer, or other approved payment methods listed on our website.
1.4 Failure to Pay
If the final payment is not received by the deadline, Great Goat Expeditions reserves the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit.

2. Refund & Cancellation Policy
2.1 Deposits
Once paid, the client is not eligible for a refund of the total value of the deposit. In the circumstance where Great Goat Expeditions cancels a trip for any reason, the client is eligible for a full refund of the deposit or can transfer it as credit to another trip.
2.2 Cancellation More Than 120 Days Before Expedition Start Date
If the client decides to cancel the trip with more than 120 days' notice, a full refund will be issued minus the deposit value.
2.3 Cancellation More Than 60 Days Before Expedition Start Date
If the client decides to cancel the trip with more than 60 days' notice, a partial refund of 50% of the total trip cost, excluding the deposit, will be issued.
Example: If a client books a trip valued at $3,000 and the deposit totals $500, then a refund equivalent to 50% of $2,500 ($3,000 - $500) will be issued. Total Refund: $1,250.
2.4 Cancellation More Than 30 Days Before Expedition Start Date
If the client decides to cancel the trip with more than 30 days' notice, a partial refund of 25% of the total trip cost, excluding the deposit, will be issued.
Example: If a client books a trip valued at $3,000 and the deposit totals $500, then a refund equivalent to 25% of $2,500 ($3,000 - $500) will be issued. Total Refund: $625.
2.5 Cancellation Less Than 30 Days Before Expedition Start Date
If a client decides to cancel the trip with less than 30 days' notice, they are not eligible for a refund.
2.6 Transfer Policy
Clients may transfer their booking to another person with at least 30 days' notice and approval from Great Goat Expeditions.
2.7 Postponement Policy
If a trip is postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, clients may opt for a credit toward a future expedition.

3. Itinerary & Changes
3.1 Flexibility Clause
Great Goat Expeditions reserves the right to alter itineraries due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or other operational reasons.
3.2 Minimum Group Size
Trips require a minimum number of participants. If a trip is canceled due to low enrollment, clients will receive a full refund or credit for a future trip.

4. Health & Fitness Requirements
4.1 Physical Fitness
Participants must be in good physical condition to join expeditions. All of our trips require moderate fitness levels as we will be hiking over challenging terrain for 5-7 hours per day on average.
4.2 Medical Conditions
Clients must disclose any medical conditions that may affect participation. Great Goat Expeditions reserves the right to deny participation based on health concerns.
4.3 Vaccination & Health Risks
Clients are responsible for ensuring they meet any vaccination or health requirements necessary for the trip.

5. Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is mandatory for all participants and must provide comprehensive coverage for medical expenses, emergency evacuations, trip cancellations, and unforeseen incidents. Due to the nature of our expeditions, insurance policies must specifically cover hiking/trekking up to 4,000 meters, and for certain trips, up to 5,500 meters.
All clients must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage at least 15 days prior to the expedition start date. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of participation without refund. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure their policy meets the necessary requirements.

6. Liability & Assumption of Risk
6.1 Acknowledgment of Risks
Clients acknowledge the inherent risks of outdoor expeditions, including extreme weather, altitude, and rugged terrain.
6.2 Liability Waiver
Great Goat Expeditions is not responsible for injuries, delays, or disruptions caused by natural disasters, political instability, or third-party providers.
6.3 Third-Party Responsibility
We are not liable for issues related to external service providers such as airlines, hotels, or local guides.

7. Equipment & Gear
7.1 Provided Equipment
Great Goat Expeditions will provide tents, all cooking equipment, and tables/chairs.
7.2 Required Personal Gear
Participants must bring their own essential gear, including sleeping bags, inflatable mattresses, footwear, clothing, and personal belongings.
7.3 Rental Options
Equipment rental options may be available upon request.

8. Behavior & Code of Conduct
8.1 Respect for Local Cultures & Environment
Clients are expected to respect local customs, wildlife, and environmental guidelines.
8.2 Alcohol & Substance Use
The use of illegal substances is prohibited. Alcohol consumption should be done responsibly and in designated areas.
8.3 Dismissal Policy
Disruptive behavior that affects the safety or well-being of the group may result in dismissal from the expedition without refund.

9. Force Majeure (Unforeseen Events)
If a trip is disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics, political unrest), Great Goat Expeditions will offer rescheduling options or partial refunds based on incurred costs.

10. Photography & Media Consent
10.1 Use of Client Photos
Great Goat Expeditions may use photos taken during trips for promotional purposes.
10.2 Opt-Out Policy
Clients who do not wish to have their images used must inform us in writing before the expedition begins.
By booking a trip with Great Goat Expeditions, clients acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
